Michael got his start over twelve years ago under the tutelage of Spike Lee and soon after joined the Director’s Guild of America. Michael has worked as an Assistant Director for directors like Spike Lee, Lee Daniels, Chris Rock and Bill Duke. He has over 10 years experience as an assistant director on films and television series such as Chris Rock hit “Top Five”, “The 25th Hour”, “7th Heaven”, “Broad City”, “The Best Man”, “Law & Order”, “Inside Man” and the academy award nominated film “Precious” in which he was nominated for a DGA award along with the director Lee Daniels as part of his directing team. and the commercial . He has directed short films, commercials, music videos and PSA’s for clients like Goodwill Industries, the New York Giants, Select Media, Youth Communications, Def Jam and 4mm Games. He won an award for Excellence in Media from The Black Men’s Film Conference for his HIV film “The Candy Store” and toured the film festival circuit with films from his short film collection. He’s directed a variety of digital series from “SoleKings”, “Black Actress” to “The Colors of Love” in addition to Producing the award winning digital series “For Colored Boys – Redemption” starring Tim Reid. The Trade is Michael’s directorial debut in episodic television drama. Del Travar is a singer, songwriter and composer from Richmond, Virginia. He performed his first solo in church, at the age of seven. Energized by the audience and a love for music, Del continued to seek opportunities to share his gift of music with others.
His personal aspirations led him to a leap of faith and set his sights on achieving his musical dreams. Inspired by the appeal of American Idol, Del auditioned for Randy, Paula, Simon, and celebrity judge Mark McGrath. They sent him to Hollywood where he successfully made it through the semi-final round.
Del has continued to stay in the limelight as a highly desired backup singer and actor. His quality and charm garnered him the television role as the face of Richmond’s American Family Fitness health club. Drawing from a wide range of inspirations, Del Travar’s style is wide-ranging, innovative, and honest. As a humble artist, Del’s message through song has touched an extensive and diverse range of listeners.
Del has been busy with a number of performances and appearances on the East & West Coast, including Washington, DC’s National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade & National Independence Day Parade, The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Basketball Tournament Half-time Show in Charlotte, NC, The Amazing Grace Conservatory along side Niecy Nash & Wendy Raquel Robinson in Los Angles, California, and The DC Loves Festival with Raheem DeVaughn and Marsha Ambrosia to name a few. He also had the honor to perform a The National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Washington, DC where he shared the stage with President Barack Obama, Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin, Janelle Monae, Train, Renee Fleming, Arturo Sandoval and several other talented artist. In 2015, Del also performed the opening number in The National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade.
Del has completed two successful EP’s to date, “At The End of The Day” and “Bag of Tricks”. He is certainly carving his place in music industry as a unique independent artist and entertainer.
